What really happens to the turkey that the president pardons at Thanksgiving

US President Barack Obama pardons the National Thanksgiving Turkey, named Apple, in a ceremony with daughters Sasha and Malia, together with National Turkey Federation Chairman Yubert Envia, in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, DC. Apple will be taken to a new residence at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens.
